What it is

The Google Business Profile is the panel that appears when someone searches your business name or 'X near me' — the map pin, the phone button, the reviews, the 'open now'. For local businesses it's often the first thing a customer sees, and it's free.

Most profiles are set up once and then quietly rot: wrong category, no service areas, a description that says nothing, services that don't match what you sell. We set it up properly or fix what's there — honest categories, tight service areas, a description that reads like a person wrote it, and a services list that matches what you actually offer.

We sell this service, so we live it: ScotReach's own profile was built the same way.

Social profiles & local SEO — the work around the profile

Your Google profile and your social profiles do different jobs. Google gets you on the map when someone searches; Facebook and Instagram get you in front of people while they browse. Local SEO is what makes your name, address and phone number consistent everywhere a customer might find you.

Consistency matters more than it sounds. When your details match across Google, Facebook, Instagram and the directories that feed them, search engines trust that you're real — and customers trust that they've found the right business. When they don't match, you look like three different companies, and local rankings quietly suffer.

How it helps your business

  • You show up in local search and Maps. The businesses on the map at the top get the calls.
  • Customers see the right information. The phone number works, the hours are real, the website link goes somewhere useful.
  • Reviews have somewhere to land. A working review process turns happy customers into visible proof.
  • Service-area businesses stop confusing Google. If you travel to customers rather than serving from a shopfront, we set it up that way — it changes everything.
  • Customers find the right you. Consistent details mean the salon they found on Instagram is the one on Google Maps.
  • You look established, not abandoned. A proper profile with real information beats a half-finished one that screams 'closed down'.

What it costs

Quoted for your business

Every business is different, so each build is priced individually based on size and complexity — you get the figure before anything starts. Anything with AI running in it also has a monthly running cost from month two, covering usage, monitoring and updates.

Early Glasgow businesses can lock in founding-partner pricing — your rate never increases, even as our prices rise for new customers. Ask when you enquire.

Frequently asked questions

I don't have a Google Business Profile — can you create one?

Yes. We set it up on your Google account and walk you through the verification step (Google needs proof you run the business — that part is yours to approve). We never ask for your Google password.

I have one, but it's wrong or I can't get it to work. Can you fix it?

That's the most common job. We correct the details, categories, service areas and services, and fix the things that stop a profile from showing properly.

Why can't customers see my profile on Google?

New profiles need verification and time to appear, and some get filtered because of problems with the details, the categories or the reviews. We diagnose the actual reason rather than guessing.

Do you need my passwords?

No. Ever. We work with you in the dashboard you control, or you grant us the access Google provides. If anyone asks for your Google password, that's not us.

What about reviews?

We set up the honest version: a working review link, a way to ask happy customers at the right moment, and replies to what comes in. We never buy reviews or trade anything for them.

Which platforms should my business be on?

It depends on what you sell. A salon and a scaffolding firm don't belong on the same platforms — we set up the ones your customers actually use, not a box-ticking set of five.

What is local SEO, exactly?

The work that makes you findable for local searches: consistent name, address and phone across the web, the right listings, and content that matches what local customers search. It's the plumbing under the profiles.

Do you run the profiles for us after setup?

We set them up properly and give you a realistic rhythm. Profiles that never post look abandoned, and posting is a people job — we're honest about that rather than selling you an automation that quietly kills the account.

What does it cost?

Setup and optimisation are quoted for your business based on what your profile needs. If your profile is already healthy, we'll tell you that too.
